From Classical to the Machine: Creating a Canon for Electronic Music

Performance within ?Trouble The With...?

An investigation of gestural performance techniques for the computer musician and an analysis of how the composition, ?Trouble The With...,? was informed by classical violin performance techniques.

CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS

o The Laptop as an instrument for real time music performance.

o Advanced and polyrhythmic MIDI sequencing.

o Technology as a tool for composition, performance, and instrument design.

o Merging organic and synthesized audio in new music composition.

o Music improvisation using technology.

o Cross disciplinary art and collaboration, particularly between music and film, dance, and multi-media installation work.

o Using traditional audio engineering and music production techniques as a compositional tool in experimental electronic music.

o Merging experimental and popular electronic music.
